How To Thrive As A Highly Sensitive Person - HSP process GROUP
"Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakens." —Carl Gustav Jung
Being a highly sensitive person has advantages and disadvantages. This HSP Process Group is experiential in nature, and is based on Dr. Elaine Aron's work/research. It will give you an opportunity to have a more in-depth exploration of the impact of your sensitivity on your personal history, career, relationships and inner world, and enhance your functioning in all areas of your life. You will better understand where and how your high sensitivity has caused you to either push yourself too hard in order to fit in, or to overprotect yourself, when what you really long for is to be part of the world.
The innate HSP personality trait exists on a spectrum. HSPs tend to feel first...then think. They typically don’t feel “seen” by their families, and they also feel invisible in the greater world––one that doesn’t value sensitivity. HSPs who have not been properly supported or validated have not learned to develop healthy self-esteem or to defend themselves against other people's stress and emotions; they are also easily shamed.
Most HSPs prefer one-on-one interactions and small groups over larger gatherings. With this in mind, I invite you to join me for the following opportunity to address the ruptures and to gently tend to the repair process.
I will offer a safe, validating, supportive and creative environment in which to share, connect, learn and grow––expand one's awareness and one's comfort zone.
The structure depends on what the group needs/brings that very evening, and the choices taken as we gradually become aware of a developing theme. No two HSP Relational Gestalt process groups are the same because of the nature of staying with one's experience from moment to moment. I will offer explorations, therapeutic suggestions/interventions, creative processes and some pieces of theory; participants participate as much or as little as they wish. There will definitely be lots of sharing and opportunities for breaking the isolation/building connection.
