MOVING TO CHANGE PSYCHOTHERAPY

The focus of my practice, Moving To Change Psychotherapy, is in working with adults who have a Sensory Processing Sensitivity (SPS), a normal, neutral, innate trait in about 20-30% of the population. As an HSP - Highly Sensitive Person myself, my approach integrates over 35 years of personal and professional development, including:

» Relational Gestalt therapy (engaging in an experiential, embodied and present-centered approach with a focus on the therapeutic relationship as a collaborative process)

» EFT Tapping / Emotional Freedom Techniques™ (releasing stressful emotions, unhealthy habits and patterns, fears and limiting beliefs, and restoring the energy flow in the body)

» Havening Techniques® (creating a safe haven for delinking encoded traumatic memories caused by stressful life experiences as well as building a more resilient brain landscape).

My practice is also informed by contemplative movement, the integration of creative arts, and meditation practices including mindfulness in everyday living. My work is rooted in the fields of attachment theory, trauma resilience, and healing the transmission of intergenerational trauma—actively engaging the brain, the nervous system, and the body’s innate wisdom and ability to heal, change, and thrive.

This creative, present-centered, neuroscience-informed bodymind approach to therapy and personal change facilitates the experiencing of your whole self––helping you get a better sense of the connections between your felt body experience, your feelings, your beliefs, and your ways of relating. I offer short and long-term individual therapy sessions as well as group workshops.

In your intake session, we will review your filled out consent and intake forms. This will give you the opportunity to share an overview of your life and to give voice to what brings you to therapy. Once we confirm that your issues and concerns are within the scope of my practice, that we are indeed a good fit, and that you wish to proceed, we can begin to make a plan, explore possibilities, and deepen the process.

Therapy sessions are confidential and based on our mutual respect; how they unfold will vary depending on your needs. As you describe what you feel are your most immediate thoughts and concerns, you will be guided in a process of being mindful of your body and your experience in the moment. While I draw on a variety of tools and approaches tailored to your specific needs, it is your moment-to-moment engagement in our work together that will determine the course of action.

If you are ready to explore personal issues in a safe, supportive and confidential environment, I welcome your email. Please note that I offer phone or video therapy sessions only at this time. To book a free 15-minute introductory phone consultation during which you can share what brings you to therapy, explore how my approach could be helpful to you in light of what your goals are, and begin to determine if working with me would be a good fit, you can contact me via my contact email form. I look forward to hearing from you,

If you try to avoid or remove the awkward quality, it will pursue you. The only effective way to still its unease is to transfigure it, to let it become something creative and positive that contributes to who you are.
